The Nebraska University Technology Group is an organization of technology professionals at the University of Nebraska campuses. The group has members from information technology offices across the campuses and gathers to collaborate on ideas regarding technology and its application. Monthly meetings are hosted by colleges/IT offices on a rotating basis. Agendas include open discussion forums, tours and explanation of the facilities, and timely topics of general interest.

SANS Security Training Comes to UNL

The Higher-Ed Information Security Technology (HITS) Conference presents SANS Security Essentials training at UNL May 19-24, 2008. The 6 day class offers reduced pricing for IT professionals in Education, Government and Law Enforcement. Earlybird registration ends April 1.

"We're excited to be offering this training to IT professionals on campus as well as those in surrounding region," says Zac Reimer, Network Security Analyst, Information Services. "SANS is considered to be the authority on IT security training. The training is not only offered locally, but it's priced under 30 percent of what commercial clients pay. This is a great opportunity." UNL Information Services is the event sponsor.

The SANS (SysAdmin, Audit, Network, Security) Institute was established in 1989 as a cooperative research and education organization. The SANS Institute enables more than 165,000 security professionals, auditors, system administrators, and network administrators to share information security practices.
